HIP INJURIES AND RECOVERY

by

Although the hips are not usually prone to injury compared with other parts of the body when there is a hip injury, it really needs attention from an orthopedic practitioner. Most hip injuries are either from a fall or they are a repetitive degeneration injury from hard heavy labor. Many hip injuries can be avoided by treating the body with more care and never doing activities which cause you pain in that area. As pain is the body’s natural mechanism to tell you something is wrong, activities which are painful to the hips are causing injury. Each time you repeat that activity damage is being done and over time you can develop a serious hip injury.

Orthopedic hip replacements are done on many people who spent years working the land and doing it tough. Degeneration often begins from the hip joint misaligning and without a proper adjustment, damage will start to ensue. Chiropractic adjustment can prevent long term damage and should be considered if you have any kind of hip pain when you are doing activities. Prompt action could save you a hip replacement down the track.

Hip injuries sustained from bad falls or from car accidents can need orthopedic surgery to repair bone and muscle damage. Any damage to the joint itself can be repaired and minimally invasive surgery can be used in some instances. Recovery is then speedy and physical therapy can begin sooner.

Arthritis is another common cause of hip injury especially in older people and can be particularly painful as the joint become more degraded. If it hurts to walk, ride a bike jump up and down or even to lie down you should see an orthopedic specialist. Treatments for easing pain and increasing mobility are most successful and they help to keep you active. Heat treatments are also useful for treating pain and inflammation and can be applied daily if the discomfort is great.
